Shining Moonlight on Our Journey

Astrology teaches us that life is an ebb and flow, like a symphony that rises and falls; it can be soft and sweet or intense and blaring. The better we know the key to our life’s music, the more we know every note and every tone to be in alignment with the sacred field of our life’s melody. Discovering and claiming our own unique harmonics is the central task of human incarnation.

Let this help you get ready for a powerful total lunar eclipse early Saturday morning April 4th. For the third time in less than a year, the Moon dips into Earth’s shadow, its dazzling white globe turning sunset red right before your eyes. All eclipses are not-to-miss events, but Saturday’s totality will be the shortest in a century – brief but beautiful!

A Lunar Eclipse can do a great job of purging and releasing things from our lives that no longer serve our higher selves. The bright light of the sun throws a spotlight on our subconscious to illuminate any issues within our primary relationships that have been festering there since the previous New Moon in Libra back in September 2014. Depending on how things have gone in the last 6 months, we can now see the fruit blossom from the seeds we planted back then.

If you have been resisting growth, you could experience the lunar eclipse as really volcanic. Lunar eclipses can be extremely emotional times – a good time to sit quietly and listen to what comes up; our feelings are our psychic barometer – allow yourself to feel – and don’t fear the tears of sacred salty purification.

While observers in far western North America, Hawaii, Japan, New Zealand and Australia will witness the entire event, those in the mountain states will see the Moon set while still in totality. Meanwhile, sky watchers in the Midwest and points East will see only the partial phases in a brightening dawn sky.

April 2015 is a month of questions, also the discomfort of not quite knowing where we’re headed at the moment – the blank slate of possibility or a sense of restlessness that demands a response. This can all seduce us into premature (re)action now, regretted further down the line. The lunar eclipse in Libra on April 4TH asks us to reflect rather than respond. It highlights behaviors born of old habits and past experience, usually fear/survival based. The first week of April is a good time to review the landscape of our life: material circumstances, relationships, activities, anything and everything in our everyday existence. Having done so we can ask ourselves ‘What of me is reflected in this?’ Moderation is needed, patience, and a willingness to trust life and its own divine timing. This is a time for deep listening not rash decisions. This is a time to sit in the silence and allow our inner wisdom to bubble to the surface, for that wisdom knows what we need and is the most compassionate voice in our life.
